Hair in the bathroom drain is gross, and sooner or later it turns into a slow drain or a full clog. The easiest fix is to stop the hair before it ever gets into the pipe, and that’s exactly what a stopper with a built-in strainer does.
I decided to give my bathroom sink a small upgrade with the Hibbent Bathroom Sink Stopper, mainly to keep hair from clogging my drain. This video was originally posted on my Ryzzun YouTube channel.
In this Hibbent sink stopper review, I’ll cover what it is, the specs, the key features, how I installed and used it, the pros and cons, who it’s for, and some common questions.

What Is the Hibbent Sink Stopper?
The Hibbent 3-in-1 Sink Stopper is a pop-up drain stopper for bathroom sinks with a removable, two-layer stainless steel basket built in. Hibbent calls it 3-in-1 because it handles three jobs: holding water when you want to fill the sink, draining fast when you don’t, and filtering out hair and small debris the whole time.
The pop-up part works like a normal push-button stopper. Press the top once and it seals; press it again and it opens. Underneath, the basket catches hair, and according to Hibbent it can also catch small items like earrings before they disappear down the drain.

How I Used It
Swapping Out the Old Stopper
The first thing I did was pull out my old stopper, and honestly it was full of hair. Pretty disgusting. The bigger problem is that a lot of that hair still makes it down into the pipes, and I’ve had to use plumbing cleaner in the past to dissolve it.
Installing the Hibbent was easy. I set it in place and twisted it in. No tools, no plumber, and it took just a few seconds.
Catching Hair
Once it was in, water still flowed freely, but it stopped hair dead in its tracks. It has rubber seals at the base and at the top, so it sits snug in the drain instead of wobbling around.
Using the Pop-Up Stopper
When it’s open, water just drains like normal. When I want to fill the sink, I push the center button down and the sink fills up. Press it again and the water drains away. It’s the same motion as a regular pop-up stopper, so there’s nothing new to learn.
Cleaning It
This is where it beats my old stopper. It’s easy to take out, clean, and twist back into place, so I can empty the hair before it builds up instead of fishing it out of the pipe later.
Things to Consider Before Buying
- Measure first: Hibbent recommends measuring your drain opening before ordering. It’s made for openings between 1.1″ and 2.36″.
- Sinks only: It’s not designed for bathtub drains.
- It needs emptying: a strainer only works if you clean it out, so plan on a quick rinse every so often.
