The best spot cleaner for most homes is the Shark StainStriker HairPro, which posted the best stain-reduction score Vacuum Wars, an independent YouTube vacuum-testing channel that buys its products and says its reviews are unsponsored, has ever recorded for a portable spot cleaner and ranks first on its list.
For bigger jobs, the Bissell Little Green Pro won a three-way stain test by French Glow, a YouTube cleaning-product reviewer hosted by David, thanks to stronger extraction and a much larger tank. Below are top spot cleaners from multiple brands, with Amazon prices checked October 16, 2026.

1. Shark StainStriker HairPro: best overall
Vacuum Wars dries a fixed amount of grape juice on white carpet, cleans it exactly as instructed, and measures the change in lightness with a colorimeter. The Shark StainStriker HairPro PX251 scored 165, the best it has recorded, against a category average of about 145, and Vacuum Wars credits the separate OXY tank that mixes with the main formula when you pull the trigger. It also measured above-average internal suction of 13.1 kPa, weighs about 8.2 pounds against a 9.6-pound average, and ships with more tools than usual, including a hair extractor that funnels hair into an internal cage. A self-clean cycle flushes the hose and tools. Full review: Shark StainStriker HairPro Review.
2. Bissell Little Green Pet Pro: best for big messes
French Glow said the Bissell Little Green Pet Pro 3909 was the heavyweight of its Shark, Bissell and Hoover test: it has the most tool options, penetrates deeper and has a clean tank more than double the size of the others, so you refill and empty less often. It removed about 90% of ketchup, protein shake, orange juice and red wine stains on a first pass with the 2-in-1 pet stain tool, without using much formula, the reviewer said. French Glow lists a 20-foot cord, 5-foot hose and 13-pound weight. Just A Dad Approved measured the deep stain tool on the Little Green Pro as his best performer. The Bissell SpotClean Pet Pro 2458 is the same machine with a Pet Stain Trapper tool, he said.
3. Bissell Little Green HydroSteam: best for sticky and oily stains
French Glow named the Bissell Little Green HydroSteam 3618 its overall winner among Bissell’s lineup, with the Little Green Pro a close second. Its SteamWash, Steam and Wash modes let steam pre-treat sugary and oily messes such as orange juice and ketchup, and the reviewer measured upholstery drying times of about 25 minutes on steam alone. See Bissell Little Green HydroSteam Review.
4. Hoover CleanSlate XL: best wide-path value
Aaron’s Test Lab bought a CleanSlate for its 7-inch wide cleaning tool, which he said makes each stair two or three times faster than 3 or 4-inch tools, and he was impressed by its suction on two dogs’ worth of dirt. The Hoover CleanSlate XL adds a larger 96-ounce tank and a pet tool, Hoover says. French Glow called the CleanSlate a solid value, especially on sale. 5. Shark StainForce Cordless: best for quick spots
Just A Dad Approved named the cordless Shark StainForce Cordless HX102 his innovation of the year. It is suction only: you spray Shark’s dual-chamber formula, scrub and extract, and the whole unit weighs under 3 pounds, Shark says. He liked that it comes fully apart for cleaning and has a hair catcher and a self-clean tray. The Shark StainForce Cordless with Caddy HX101 adds a carry caddy.
6. Bissell Little Green Mini Cordless: lightweight cordless
The Bissell Little Green Mini Cordless 4015 weighs 7 pounds and runs up to 20 minutes with BatteryBoost, Bissell says, with a 4-inch tough stain tool and a self-cleaning hose tool. The Hoover ONEPWR CleanSlate Cordless and Vacmaster 600 Series Cordless are other cordless options.
