Carpets and seats hold far more dirt than they look like they do, especially if you have pets. A regular vacuum picks up the loose stuff, but it can’t pull out what’s soaked into the fabric. Full-size carpet cleaners are bulky and awkward in a car.
I tested the BISSELL Little Green MultiClean, a wet and dry portable carpet and upholstery cleaner, inside my Kia. It was definitely ready for a deep clean.
In this BISSELL Little Green MultiClean review, I’ll cover what it is, the specs, how it did on my car’s carpets and upholstery, pet odors, dry vacuum mode, tips from the manual, the pros and cons, and who it’s for.

A note on the link: the BISSELL link above takes you to the BISSELL Little Green Max Pet (model 3860) on Amazon. That’s a closely related Little Green model, not the MultiClean (model 3857P) I used in the video, so check the details on the listing before you buy.
What Is the BISSELL Little Green MultiClean?
The Little Green MultiClean is BISSELL’s 2-in-1 portable cleaner. It works as a wet extractor that sprays cleaning solution and suctions the dirty liquid back out, and as a dry vacuum when you switch tools. The model number is 3857P.
It’s built for carpets, upholstery, and car interiors, and it’s small enough to carry around a vehicle or up the stairs.

Deep Cleaning My Kia
There was dirt throughout the interior, especially in the carpeted areas. I worked my way through using the wet cleaning function. The cleaning solution and suction lifted the dirt from the fabric, then pulled the dirty liquid back into the machine.
Seeing the dirty water get extracted was the most satisfying part. It showed how much dirt was sitting in the material, even in areas that didn’t look that bad from the surface.
Pet Odors
I have pets, so odors build up in my car. After cleaning, the upholstery smelled much fresher, and those lingering pet smells were no longer noticeable.
Dry Vacuum Mode
The MultiClean isn’t limited to wet cleaning. By switching tools, it also works as a dry vacuum. That gives you a convenient way to pick up loose debris before moving on to a deeper wet clean.
Portability
The portable size makes sense for a vehicle. I could move around my Kia and reach the seats, carpets, and other upholstered areas without wrestling a full-size carpet cleaner. You can use it around the house on carpets and upholstered furniture too.
Tips From the BISSELL Manual
- Use BISSELL formulas. BISSELL says to use genuine BISSELL formulas made for portable cleaners, since other formulas or household cleaners may damage the machine.
- Use warm water, not hot. Fill the clean tank with warm water up to 140°F (60°C) max. Don’t use boiling water or heat water in the microwave.
- Match the fill to the mess. With bottled formula, BISSELL lists 14 oz of water and 2 oz of formula for small areas, or 28 oz of water and 4 oz of formula for large areas. A concentrated pouch goes in with water filled to the large-area line.
- Watch the MAX line. Empty the dirty water tank when it reaches the MAX fill line, then rinse it and let it air dry.
About the Little Green Max Pet (the Linked Model)
Since the link goes to the Little Green Max Pet 3860, here’s what BISSELL says about that model on Amazon. It claims 30% more suction than the competing portable deep cleaner, plus a self-cleaning Tough Stain Tool and a two-tank system that keeps clean and dirty water separate. In the box, BISSELL lists the Tough Stain Tool, a pet hair removal tool, and an 8 oz trial of PET PRO OXY Spot & Stain formula. The listing gives a weight of 8.2 pounds and has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating at the time I checked.
Amazon’s AI review summary for the Max Pet says buyers like the stain removal, suction, and compact size. Some report leaks or say the dirty water seemed dirtier than expected.
