Tineco vs Bissell CrossWave: automatic sensors vs trigger control, weight, suction and runtime, with credited side-by-side tests and prices from Oct 16, 2026.

In the Tineco vs Bissell CrossWave matchup, Tineco wins on automation and ease of handling while BISSELL wins on raw suction and big-mess capacity, according to side-by-side tests by Just A Dad Approved and Clean Freak & Germaphobe, two YouTube channels that test household cleaners.

Vacuum Wars, an independent YouTube testing channel that buys the vacuums it reviews with its own money measured BISSELL’s CrossWave HydroSteam and CrossWave OmniForce Edge as the two strongest machines at the floorhead, while Tineco models took most of the top stain-test spots. The biggest difference: automatic vs trigger

Just A Dad Approved compared the Tineco Floor ONE S5 with the BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max. The Tineco’s iLoop sensor puts down solution and adjusts suction automatically in auto mode, while the CrossWave only releases solution while you pull a trigger on the handle. He said the trigger can be useful when you want an area to dry fast, because you can run suction only, but he also admitted he sometimes forgot to pull it.

He found the Tineco picked up most of a cereal, chocolate syrup and ketchup mess in one pass, used less solution and turned more easily, while the BISSELL tended to slide. He also measured about 35 minutes of runtime on the Tineco, a little more than the CrossWave, and noted the auto mode saves battery on floors that are already fairly clean.

Where BISSELL comes out ahead

  • Suction: Vacuum Wars measured the CrossWave HydroSteam and CrossWave OmniForce Edge first and second for floorhead suction, more than double the group average.
  • Big messes and families: Clean Freak & Germaphobe concluded that busy homes with more kids and pets may be better served by the CrossWave’s larger water tank and firmer bristles.
  • Rugs: BISSELL gives its CrossWave a rug setting; Just A Dad Approved noted the Tineco S5 has no dedicated rug mode.
  • Steam option: the CrossWave HydroSteam adds steam; BISSELL says its water-plus-steam approach dissolves grease 20% faster than steam alone in internal testing.

Where Tineco comes out ahead

  • Weight: both channels found the BISSELL heavier and said you notice it when carrying it between rooms.
  • App and voice prompts: Just A Dad Approved said Tineco’s app adds firmware updates, voice volume, scheduling and a remote self-clean, while BISSELL’s app is more basic.
  • Self-cleaning: he found the Tineco’s cycle ran longer, adds a deeper clean when it senses more dirt and was quieter.
  • Stain scores: Tineco models posted three of the top stain scores in Vacuum Wars’ 2025 test: 175, 170 and 169 points, against a 138-point average.

Which Tineco and which CrossWave?

For a Tineco, the Tineco Floor ONE S5 ($349.99) is the model Just A Dad Approved tested and still calls relevant. The Tineco Floor ONE Stretch S6 ($299.00) adds lay-flat cleaning and hot-air drying and was Vacuum Wars’ fifth-ranked machine. On the BISSELL side, the BISSELL CrossWave Edge Cordless ($199.99) is the cordless option with ZeroGap edge cleaning on one side, the BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro 2306A ($219.99) comes with pet solution and a hair guard, and the BISSELL CrossWave HydroSteam 35151 ($279.86) is the steam model.

Tineco vs Bissell CrossWave: cleanup and what comes in the box

Both machines sit on a dock that charges them and runs a self-clean, Just A Dad Approved showed. After the cycle, he found the Tineco’s roller came off with a simple lift and was fairly clean, while the BISSELL’s roller still had a little debris on it, though it was close to dry. Emptying the dirty water tanks was easy on both: each has a filter that lifts out and a strainer that catches debris, and he rinsed both at the sink.

In the box, the Tineco came with a small cleaning brush and an extra filter, and the BISSELL came with an extra roller, according to the same review. Clean Freak & Germaphobe added that both took about four hours to charge on their docks and that neither reviewer ran out of battery cleaning a full main floor of hard flooring.

Edge cleaning test

Clean Freak & Germaphobe ran both along a baseboard with colored sand. BISSELL advertises improved edge control, and in that test the CrossWave picked up more of the sand at the edge, while the Tineco cleared the open floor in fewer passes. If your kitchen has a lot of exposed baseboard, look at the CrossWave Edge, which BISSELL builds with ZeroGap edge cleaning on the right side of the brush roll.

Running costs: solution

Clean Freak & Germaphobe noted both brands tell you to use their own floor solution, and BISSELL’s machine needed more than one capful for a full tank while the Tineco needed one capful. Both said plain water works when you run out. Check each brand’s current solution price before you buy, since you will reorder it.

Verdict

Pick Tineco if you want a lighter machine that thinks for you. Pick BISSELL if you have big, frequent messes, want the strongest suction or need the option of steam. For the full ranking across brands, see Best Wet Dry Vacuum Mop.
