Winix 5510 Review (2026): Top Performer or Step Back?

Project Farm ranked the $179.99 Winix 5510 first after a smoke test; HouseFresh found it weaker at quiet speeds. Here is what each tester found.

This Winix 5510 review finds a purifier that testers rank very differently. Project Farm, a YouTube channel that buys every product it tests, ranked it first overall after it removed 3.9 million particles in a 30-minute smoke test.

Air Purifier First, a YouTube channel that tests purifiers, measured a 96% drop in PM2.5 in 60 minutes. HouseFresh, an independent air purifier testing site, found it weaker at quiet speeds and louder at top speed than rivals.

It listed at $179.99 on Amazon on Oct 16, 2026, with a 4.6 rating from 32,436 ratings. It replaces the popular Winix 5500-2.

Alternatives to Consider

Want better quiet-speed cleaning and a better app? HouseFresh preferred the Levoit Vital 200S-P ($169.99). Want the quietest strong performer? Look at the Coway Airmega Mighty2 (AP-1512N) ($269.99).

My Planned Test

Planned test: I plan to measure noise at each speed in my bedroom and time how long it takes to clear cooking smoke on speed 2. I will add my results and my Home Smart video here when they are done. Until then, nothing on this page is a hands-on claim from me.

What YouTube Reviewers Found With the Winix 5510

These findings are paraphrased from the video transcripts and credited to each creator. They are the creators’ own test results and opinions, not mine.

  • Project Farm (buys every product it tests): the Winix 5510 (about $180) came out on top overall. In a 30-minute smoke test it removed 3.9 million particles, versus 3.52 million for the original Coway Mighty (about $229) and 3.18 million for a Dyson (about $1,200). Its one downside was noise, about 63.1 dB on high.
  • Air Purifier First (Winix 5510): in a 320 sq ft room, PM2.5 dropped from 104.9 to 4.7 µg/m³ in 60 minutes, a 96% improvement. Noise ranged from 40.2 dBA in Sleep mode to 65.7 dBA at top speed. It says the Winix 5520 is identical in performance and features.
  • HouseFresh (Winix 5510): it likes the design, the compact body, the ad-free app and top-speed cleaning on par with the older 5500-2. It dislikes how much cleaning speed drops at quiet fan speeds under 45 dB, the louder top speed and the new Type Q filter, which does not fit the 5500-2 and had no generic options at filming.
  • HouseFresh: Winix says to replace the 5510 filters every 12 months, and the Type Q kit cost $79.99. It estimated about $59.98 a year in energy to run it 24/7 at top speed. Its verdict was that the 5510 is not a bad purifier, but it would stick with the older 5500-2.
