Getting a good night’s sleep isn’t always about the mattress. If you sleep better with your head raised, a flat bed means stacking pillows or using a wedge pad, and those tend to shift around during the night.
That was my situation. I have health issues, and a wedge pad was helping me before. But I move around too much, and I’d sometimes slip off of it. I needed something more consistent, so I switched to the Lucid L150 Adjustable Bed Base. Getting it has been the best decision I’ve made to help me sleep well at night.

How I Use It
I like it at about a 15 to 20 degree incline when I sleep at night. When I want to watch TV, I raise it higher. Unlike my old wedge pad, it stays at exactly the height and angle I set, no matter how much I move around.
When it moves, the whole bed goes with it, including the mattress and pillows. Going up and down is kind of a cool little ride, and I’ll admit I like messing with it.
Head and Foot Positions
The main feature is independent head and foot adjustment. Instead of lying completely flat, I can raise my upper body, elevate my legs, or combine the two until I find a position that feels comfortable. I especially like raising both sections when I’m relaxing in bed. It feels very different from a traditional flat bed.
Lucid says raising the head can help ease snoring, acid reflux, or congestion, and raising the feet can help circulation and relieve lower back pressure. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor about which positions are right for you.
The Wireless Remote
All adjustments happen on the wireless remote. The controls are straightforward, so I can make small changes to either section without getting out of bed. Press a button and the bed goes right back up. The remote comes pre-paired, so there’s nothing to set up.
Quiet Motor
The motor stays relatively quiet when I change positions, which is useful if two people share the bed. Lucid says the head and foot adjust independently without disturbing a sleeping partner.
My Mattress
I paired it with a memory foam mattress, and I love it. It feels like a soft but sturdy cloud, and once I lay on it, I go right to sleep. It bends up and down easily with the base.
Lucid says the L150 works with most memory foam, hybrid, and latex mattresses between 8 and 14 inches thick, so you may not need a new mattress.
Installation
Installation is flexible. The L150 can fit inside many standard bed frames after you remove the slats. You can also take off the legs for a zero-clearance setup on platform or storage beds, so drawers stay accessible.
Assembly doesn’t need tools. You unfold the frame, attach the legs, plug it in, and the remote is ready. Lucid recommends two people to lift it because of its size and weight.
Weight Limits From the Manual
Lucid’s owner’s manual says the 750-lb limit includes the mattress and bedding and assumes the weight is spread evenly across the base. It also says the head or foot section alone isn’t designed to lift that much weight.
Lucid L150 vs. L300 and L600
Lucid’s comparison chart shows the L150 is its simplest base:
- L150: head and foot incline, wireless remote, zero-clearance design, 5-year limited warranty
- L300: adds USB charging ports, a remote flashlight, and 1 custom position, with a 10-year limited warranty
- L600: adds 4 preset positions, 5 custom positions, the Lucid Base app, a child lock, head and foot massage, and under-bed lighting, with a 10-year limited warranty
If you just want to raise the head and foot, the L150 covers it.
What Other Buyers Say
Amazon’s AI summary of customer reviews says buyers find it easy to assemble, quiet, and helpful for sleep and snoring. Some feedback is mixed. Some buyers mention the mattress sliding down or the base getting stuck in the up position, and many note it’s very heavy for one person to move.
Lucid L150 Pros and Cons
Pros
- Independent head and foot adjustment
- Holds the exact angle, unlike a wedge pad
- Simple, pre-paired wireless remote
- Quiet motor
- Works with most 8-14 inch mattresses
- Fits inside many bed frames or goes zero-clearance
- Tool-free setup and a 5-year limited warranty
Cons
- No massage, presets beyond flat, USB ports, or lighting
- Heavy, so you’ll want two people to set it up
- Some buyers report remote issues or mattress sliding
- Shorter warranty than Lucid’s L300 and L600
Who Is It For?
The Lucid L150 is for:
- People who sleep better inclined, like I do, and are tired of wedge pads
- TV watchers and readers who want to sit up in bed comfortably
- Couples who need a quiet motor
- Anyone keeping their current mattress and bed frame
- First-time adjustable bed buyers who want the basics without extras
If you want massage, saved positions, or an app, look at Lucid’s L600 instead.
Is an Adjustable Bed Frame Worth It?
For me, yes. It replaced a wedge pad I kept slipping off, it holds the angle I need all night, and it’s easy to raise for TV. If you sleep better inclined or like sitting up in bed, an adjustable base is one of the most practical sleep upgrades you can make.
