Who Should Buy Which

  • Levoit Vital 200S-P: Best value pick: strong CADR for under $200, low running costs and one of the most polished apps.

My Planned Test

Planned test: I plan to run both in the same room, timing how long each clears cooking smoke at its quietest usable speed. I will add my results and my Home Smart video here when they are done. Until then, nothing on this page is a hands-on claim from me.

What YouTube Reviewers Found

These findings are paraphrased from the video transcripts and credited to each creator. They are the creators’ own test results and opinions, not mine.

  • HouseFresh (Vital 200S vs Winix 5510): third-party CADR results gave the Vital slightly higher dust CADR and the Winix marginally better pollen and smoke. Both scored 0.0 ppb for ozone. The Winix lacks a child lock, timers and a lights-off button, and uses a gas sensor rather than the Vital’s particle sensor.
  • HouseFresh: at the fastest speed under 45 dB, the Vital cleaned its test room in 46 minutes, 14 minutes faster than the Winix. It measured the Winix 15% louder at top speed and estimated the Vital 33% cheaper to run each year, so it named the Vital the clear winner.
  • Air Purifier First: in a 320 sq ft room, both the Winix 5510 and the Vital 200S improved air quality by 96% in 60 minutes at max speed. At the lowest speed the Winix measured 40.2 dBA and the Levoit 41.0 dBA; at max, 65.7 vs 62.2 dBA. It picked the Vital as the better overall choice but called the Winix an excellent option.
  • Project Farm (buys every product it tests): the Winix 5510 (about $180) came out on top overall. In a 30-minute smoke test it removed 3.9 million particles, versus 3.52 million for the original Coway Mighty (about $229) and 3.18 million for a Dyson (about $1,200). Its one downside was noise, about 63.1 dB on high.
