Shark PowerDetect Cordless Review (2026): Shark’s Best Stick Vacuum

Shark PowerDetect cordless review: suction, DuoClean Detect head, auto-empty dock, runtime and pet hair results, with credited Vacuum Wars tests.

This Shark PowerDetect cordless review finds it has the most suction and features of any Shark cordless vacuum tested by Vacuum Wars, a YouTube testing channel that bought both versions. It scored perfectly on deep-cleaning sand from carpet.

The standard IP1255 listed at $475.95 and the IP3251 Clean & Empty with an auto-empty dock at $549.00 on Amazon on October 16, 2026. Vacuum Wars said they are essentially the same vacuum.

What the Shark PowerDetect does well

  • Pickup: Vacuum Wars called it a near-perfect vacuum for debris, especially on hard floors where the DuoClean head dusts fine debris and still takes large debris.
  • No head swaps: it adapts automatically when you move onto carpet.
  • Smart sensors: it raises suction near edges and when it senses more debris, and adjusts for forward and reverse strokes, The French Glow explained.
  • Bendable wand: Shark’s MultiFLEX lets you reach under furniture (listed).
  • Hair: Vacuum Wars said it picked up pet and human hair almost like magic.

Clean & Empty or standard?

The Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty (IP3251) adds a dock that empties the bin and charges the vacuum; Shark says it holds 45 days of debris. The Shark PowerDetect Cordless (IP1255) skips the dock for less money.

Runtime

Shark claims 70 minutes on low. Vacuum Wars measured 13 minutes on max with the floor head and estimated 30 to 40 minutes in auto mode depending on how much carpet you have.
