A 3D printed battery holder puts power tool batteries on the wall, and there are files for Milwaukee, DeWalt, Ryobi, Makita and Hart. Printed M18 mounts locked in tight enough to trust in a van or truck, according to Clutch, a YouTube channel that printed Milwaukee battery and tool mounts.
Heat is the main design concern in a garage. The Next Layer, a YouTube channel about functional prints, printed his tool mounts in ASA for heat resistance, and Toolhead147, a channel that prints Milwaukee Packout parts, suggested an enclosed printer for fewer problems.
Here is what to print, how to get a snug fit, and which filament holds up. More wall ideas are in 3D prints for garage organization.

| Type | Brands with files | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wall battery mounts | Milwaukee M18/M12, DeWalt 20V, Ryobi ONE+, Makita, Hart | Mount in rows; uses the battery lock |
| Tool mounts (bare tool hangs by its foot) | Most major brands | Drill, impact and light holders |
| Packout and case inserts | Milwaukee Packout organizers | Bins and socket trays |
| Battery adapters | Cross-brand adapters | Electrical risk; see warning below |
Getting a Good Fit
Battery rails vary slightly between printers. The YouTube channel Clutch said his first M12 mounts had some wiggle and his later prints, scaled a couple of percent smaller, fit much better. Print one test before a full wall.
Heat: The Big Problem in Garages and Trucks
PLA can soften in a hot garage or a vehicle in summer. The YouTube channel The Next Layer printed his Makita mounts in ASA for heat resistance. ASA and ABS need an enclosed printer.
A Warning About Battery Adapters
Some creators print adapters to run old tools on new batteries. The YouTube channel Lechnology built adapters to run old Bosch tools on Milwaukee 18 V packs. That work involves electrical contacts and lithium-ion packs, so I do not recommend it for beginners. Storage mounts carry no current and are the safe place to start.
| Use | Filament | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor holders and organizers | PLA | Easy, stiff, cheap |
| Parts that get dropped or flexed | PETG | Tougher, less brittle |
| Hot garage, truck or van | ASA (or ABS) | Higher heat resistance; needs an enclosed printer |
| Soft jaws, grips, non-marring tips | TPU | Rubber-like, will not scratch |

What YouTube Creators Found About 3D Printed Battery Holders
These are findings from popular YouTube videos, paraphrased from their transcripts and credited. They are the creators’ experiences and claims, not my test results.
- Clutch (Clutch: “3D Printed Milwaukee Battery and Tool Mounts! M18 and M12”) showed M18 and M12 battery mounts and a tool mount with countersunk screw holes. He said the M18 mounts locked in tight enough that he would trust them in a van or truck. He was less sure the M12 mounts would stay put.
- Toolhead147 (Toolhead147: “How To 3D Print Milwaukee Packout Parts”) printed Packout organizers and a stubby impact socket set on a P2S Combo. He suggested an enclosed printer if you want fewer problems.
- Lechnology (Lechnology: “3D Printing Milwaukee’s Worst Nightmare”) said replacement batteries for his old tools cost more than new tools. He tried a corded conversion first and found it impractical, then printed adapters for Milwaukee batteries.
- Tooling_with_Newman (Tooling_with_Newman: “Milwaukee Packout Organizer Inserts”) walks through printing Packout organizer inserts from Jonah Pope’s designs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What filament is best for battery holders?
PETG for indoor use; ASA if the mount lives in a hot garage, shed or vehicle.
Will a printed mount lock the battery in?
Good designs use the battery’s own latch. Test the fit first; scale slightly if it is loose or tight.
Are 3D printed battery adapters safe?
They carry high current and can short or overheat if built badly. Stick to storage mounts unless you have electrical experience.
Can I print Milwaukee Packout inserts?
Yes, many free and paid designs exist for Packout organizers.
