10 Best 3D Printed Woodworking Jigs and Shop Helpers (2026)

Router templates, marking gauges, bench dogs and drilling guides: 10 woodworking jigs worth printing, with tips from Artisan Made and WayofWood.

3D printed woodworking jigs give you router templates, marking gauges and drilling guides for a few cents of filament, and most of the files are free. You do not need to design anything to benefit, according to Artisan Made, a woodworking YouTube channel that prints jigs for its own shop.

Accuracy depends on the setup. WayofWood, a YouTube channel that designs printable woodworking tools, says its marking gauge only works if you measure the ruler width, thickness and nail diameter precisely before generating the model.

Here are 10 jigs worth printing, with credited videos. For storage on the shop wall, see 3D prints for garage organization.

1. Router templates

Artisan Made showed printing router templates for handles and shapes. A multi-piece print can be traced onto a sturdier sheet to make a long-lasting one-piece template. He warned that soft sheet material wears at the corners.

2. Ruler marking gauge

WayofWood’s customizable gauge clips onto a steel ruler and uses a nail as the scribe. You measure your ruler and nail and type the numbers into a customizer.

Custom-size pegs for any bench hole pattern, imperial or metric.

6. Drilling guides

Guides for 90 and 45 degree holes, shelf pin spacing and pocket holes. Print with high infill.

Tips for Printing Woodworking Jigs

  • Calibrate first: check a printed 100 mm test against a steel rule before trusting a jig.
  • Use PETG or PLA with 4 to 5 walls and 30% or more infill for parts that take clamping pressure.
  • Print reference faces flat on the bed for accuracy.
  • Do not use printed jigs as guards or anywhere near a blade path.

What YouTube Creators Found About 3D Printed Woodworking Jigs

These are findings from popular YouTube videos, paraphrased from their transcripts and credited. They are the creators’ experiences and claims, not my test results.

  • Artisan Made (Artisan Made: “3d Printing For Woodworkers”) stressed that you don’t need to design anything to benefit, since most files are free. He recommended buying a metric screw kit (M4 and similar) because most designers use metric hardware.
  • WayofWood (WayofWood: “3D printed marking gauge”) explained that the gauge only works if you measure the ruler width, thickness and nail diameter precisely before generating the model.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are 3D printed jigs accurate enough for woodworking?

For marking, drilling and templates, yes, once your printer is calibrated. Check every jig against a known square or rule.

What filament is best for woodworking jigs?

PETG for toughness, PLA for stiff and precise templates.

Can I use a 3D printed router template directly?

Yes, with a bearing bit, but plastic edges wear. Trace it onto MDF or hardboard for a template you will use often.

Where can I download free woodworking jigs?

Printables, MakerWorld and Thingiverse, plus files linked by woodworking YouTubers.
