As you saw, the act of focusing is something that you can train by exercising your ability to focus and pay attention on a regular and consistent basis. 

When you are listening to someone talk, make sure to be completely present and in the moment as you pay attention to what they are saying. Don’t do other attention consuming activities, such as texting someone else.
