Medical Terms Prefixes Memorized

The key idea with being able to memorize med terms and vocabulary words is the create pictures for those words.

Just take both the picture for the word and the picture for the definition and visualize an interaction between the two like we did above.

Re Medical Term Prefix with Mnemonic

re- means: again

Re- Medical Term Mnemonic =  reed (clarinet)
Re- Prefix Definition Mnemonic: again  = repeat

Re Medical Term Mnemonic Story: Using the reed, the clarinet player kept repeating the same song

rejuvenation = the restoration of youthful health and vitality.

Semi Medical Term Prefix with Mnemonic

semi- means: half

Semi- Medical Term Mnemonic = semi truck
Semi- Prefix Definition Mnemonic: half = cut in half

semisupine = pertaining to a posture that is between a midposition and the supine position.

Sub Medical Term Prefix with Mnemonic

sub- means: beneath

Sub- Medical Term Mnemonic = subway (train)
Sub- Prefix Definition Mnemonic: beneath = underneath

Sub Medical Term Mnemonic Story: The subway could only run underneath on the city tracks

Sub Medical Terminology Example to Use in a Sentence

subungual = beneath a fingernail or toenail.

super- means: above

Super- Medical Term Mnemonic = superhero
Super- Prefix Definition Mnemonic: above = flying above showing abs

Super Medical Term Mnemonic Story: Superhero was flying above everyone while showing his abs

supernatant = situated above or on top of something.

syn- means: together

Syn- Medical Term Mnemonic = sink
Syn- Prefix Definition Mnemonic: together = glued together

synthetic = pertaining to a substance that is produced by an artificial rather than a natural process or material.
