3D Printed Pegboard Hooks and Accessories: Skadis, Multiboard and More

Skadis, Multiboard or standard pegboard: what to print, why short hooks hold best, and what Slant 3D and Distracted by Design learned.

The best 3D printed pegboard accessories are short, stubby hooks, which hold just as reliably in IKEA Skadis slots and do not tear out, according to Slant 3D, a YouTube channel run by a print-farm engineer.

Skadis add-ons are among the most printed shop files, and full printable wall systems such as Multiboard go further. Distracted by Design, a YouTube channel about maker builds, load-tested a custom printed storage wall with a full 2-gallon bucket and a chair.

This guide covers the main pegboard systems, what to print, and how to design hooks that hold. For the wider garage, see 3D prints for garage organization.

How to Make Printed Pegboard Hooks Stronger

The YouTube channel Slant 3D showed seven ways to design Skadis hooks. Printed flat, long thin hooks snap at the layer lines; printing on the side with supports can ruin the fit. Their fixes include short “stumpy” hooks that print flush to the bed without supports, designed-in supports, and flexing snap tabs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What filament is best for pegboard hooks?

PETG. It flexes before it snaps, which suits clips and hooks. PLA works for bins and light holders.

Will 3D printed hooks fit any pegboard?

Hooks are made for a specific system. Check the hole size and spacing, standard 1/4 in, 1/8 in, or Skadis slots, before printing.

Is Multiboard better than pegboard?

It is more flexible but means printing the board too. Pegboard and Skadis are cheaper starting points.

Why does my hook break at the base?

Layer lines run across the hook. Print it on its side or use a stubby design.
